Reviews:

Hed Alps Wheels.
Originally purchased the Alps front and H3 rear wheel. The H3 rear was not that impressive. Though the ride was smooth, it didn't seem to be dramatically faster though it is stiffer. Much heavier at 1050 grams. The front Alps, though is a amazing. Riding the front Alps and standard spoked American Classics 1350 rear, the bike accelerated much more quickly at speeds above 20 mph. Was able to drop other riders, going from 39 to 44 mph. Yes, they are clinchers, so they are heavier, but the aluminum braking surface is very secure and modulates well. The wheels seem laterally stiffer than the American Classics and appear bullet proof. Only problem-slightly out of true on delivery.
These wheels are essentially the same design as the Zipp 404 but hundreds of $ cheaper. The only downside to these wheels is the rims are deep and it's hard to mount a tire; tire iron is required. This means use heavier duty tubes to avoid pinching when installing the tube. Though 1/2 pound heavier than my American Classics, 1350, they are front: 675, rear: 900, total weight of 1575 grams. This is actually pretty reasonable compared to Mavic Ksyrium SLs @ 1500 grams, Heliums @ 1635 gramsKsyriums @ 1835 grams.

Nimble Crosswind Wheels
Purchased these in early 2000 for $1400. These are amazing wheels as advertised; they accelerate effortlessly. However the tubulars are a chore to deal with; got a flat in the rain on these and my hands were too cold to work the tire off/on. Ended up walking 2 miles and getting a ride home. Also, carbon rim doesn't brake as well as aluminum. Adding a computer magnet creates a rattle that can't be quited. I only rode these 6 times in 5 years. Now trying to sell them. Weight: 710 front, 960, rear; total: 1670 grams.

Hed Flip-Light Extensions
Hed has some issues with keeping their web site up to date. These are essentially the bars that Lance rode in last year's tour. The "S" bend is different than other bars; the sloping section allows for more power in the bars by enabling you to more easily pull from that position. It does work. The clamping mechanism is quite powerful as well; these are as stable as the benchmark Syntace aerobars. These came with more triangular pads which flip up for climbing. Advertised weight was 280 grams, but they came in at 365 grams! This being said, it's hard to believe they could be made any lighter. Because of the s-bend, the bar end shifters stick out a little further than syntaces (which point up, not out), so shifting is a little more difficult. Pads could be thicker.

Vittoria Tires
The Vittoria Diamante Pro and Pro Light are very impressive tires. The Pro Light is 178 grams each. Riding with superlight tubes, got two flats in two rides. Switched to heavier tubes and have got no flats.

The Diamante Pro is a fantastic tire. Very supple ride. No flats thus far. 210 grams each. 150 psi max. These are the best tires I've used.

Zero Gravity Brakes
These are amazing brakes. Extremely light; less than 200 grams for the pair! Stopping power is excellent. Slightly fragile, of course, but be careful with wrenching too hard on the titanium bolts; they can snap if too much torque is applied. Very happy except front brake doesn't have enough tension, so brake lever is "loose" which creates vibration on bumpy roads. Trying to figure out best remedy. Otherwise, very nice.

TTT Handlebars
These are fantastic! They are road bars, turned upside down. Fantastic climbing/sprinting.
225 grams. Anyone need some Syntace bullhorns?

Profile Quickstop 2 aero brakes

Profile Quickstop 2 brakes are awesome. 187 grams (very light). Feature a return spring which helps overcome drag with the cow horns and Zero Gravity brakes. Highly recommended and only about $45.

Vittoria Open Courso CX
Very nice tires. Supple ride, but hard to put on. 235 grams each. Got blue sidewalls. 290 tpi
Installed 6/17/05.
